The Data Told

Set C — SPF 50+ Clear Coating: This was the most striking result. The ΔE at day 30 registered 0.4 — essentially unchanged. At day 90, it was 1.1. At day 184, the final ΔE was 2.3, which sits just below the threshold where most observers would describe the colour as "noticeably different." The bamboo retained its original golden hue, the surface remained smooth, and there were zero visible cracks. This set proved that a properly formulated SPF 50+ coating can preserve bamboo furniture through an entire Singaporean monsoon season with minimal visual impact.

Set D — SPF 50+ Tinted with HALS: The tinted formulation performed marginally better than Set C, with a final ΔE of 1.8. However, the tint also absorbed more heat, with surface temperatures running approximately 4°C higher than the clear version.
